  • A petition seeking quashing of notification issued by the Union Environment and Forest Ministry declaring monkeys as vermin in the Shimla municipal area has been filed in the High Court.The Union Environment and Forest Ministry on March 14 issued a notification declaring monkeys as ‘vermin’ for the next six months in the jurisdiction of the Shimla MC. Monkeys are a protected species under Schedule II of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
  • The agriculture markets at Dhalli near Shimla and Solan agriculture market would be connected to major markets in the country with the launching of the national agriculture market (NAM) platform by Prime Minister. The twin markets of the state are included among 21 markets to be linked online for availing the facility of all online transactions, including online auction of agriculture produce.
  • The National Institute of Solar Energy had assessed Himachal Pradesh's solar power potential to be 33,000 MW
