  • World Health Day was today celebrated and marked as the foundation day of World Health Organisation (WHO) at the Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (DRPGMC) at Tanda and Nagrota Surian to raise awareness among people of this year’s theme “Beat Diabetes”.
  • The state government has decided to constitute Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Scheduled Castes.
  • Chaitra Navratri festival is starting from 8 April at the Bajjreshwari temple in Kangra.
  • The Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) today launched the save water campaign under the banner, “Water is guest, use it wisely” asking residents to save the wastage of water in view the water scarcity in the city.
  • The SRL diagnostics laboratory functioning at the Zonal Hospital, Mandi, becomes the first-ever laboratory in the state which received NABL accreditation (National Accreditation Board for Calibration Laboratories). 24 SRL laboratories had started functioning in 10 districts of the state in 2013 on the public-private partnership (PPP) model after an MoU was signed between the Department of Health & Family Welfare Services (HP Government) & Rogi Kalyan Samities and SRL Ltd.
  • A committee headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Sirmaur inspected a site in Paonta Sahib Sub-division for erecting a ropeway between Khodri and Tohru villages. The proposed ropeway would reduce the travelling distance between Khodri and Tohru villages to 3 km from the existing 28 km. The project will help tap the eco-tourism potential of Sirmaur and generate employment for locals.
